Spring Equinox

When winter drips its darkness from the sky
and stretches out supine
in long daytime shadows

When warm sun finds faces to kiss
and trees dress bridal
dropping confetti on succulent grass

When people find themselves outside
emerging as though from a deep slumber
ready for breakfast and ball games and laughter

When the cold and the snow slip into memory
impossible to imagine now
even in the whisper of the breeze
and the clouds that cover the sun

Come, sit by me in the park
and speak to me
of life and love
then we will return home like children
freckled and full of wonder
